so i took two weeks completely off. no slots, no checking balances, nothing. wasn't a crisis or anything, i just noticed i was reaching for my phone the second the kids were in bed and it stopped feeling fun, more like a habit.
set a 14 day cooldown on my account so i literally couldn't log in. that part mattered, if it was just willpower i'd have caved by day three lol.
first few days were weird. like i kept picking up my phone and not knowing what to do with my hands. by the end of week one that faded. slept better, which i did not expect.
what i learned: i was playing out of boredom way more than for the entertainment. when i came back i set a small weekly deposit cap and i only play saturday now, kind of a treat instead of a nightly thing.
anyone else done a planned break? did the itch come back when you returned or did it reset things for you?
took a two week break and here's what it taught me

Done it more than once over the years. The phone-in-the-hand thing you described is the realest part. We don't miss the gambling, we miss the fidget.
My trick on the return is I never reload during a session anymore. Whatever I sat down with is the budget, win or lose. Turns it back into a night out instead of an open tab. Good on you for the Saturday-only thing, that's basically the same idea.

the sleep thing is so real and nobody talks about it. i did a week off in March and same deal, out cold by 11 instead of scrolling reels til 1am.
for me the itch did come back a little on day one back but it was manageable because i'd already set a limit before i logged in. doing it ahead of time when you're calm is the whole game. once you're in a session your brain argues with you.

Solid. The boredom realization is the valuable part honestly, more than the two weeks itself.
One practical thing for the return: I started reading the actual session as entertainment spend, same bucket as a movie or dinner out. If a $40 saturday gives me a couple hours of fun, fine. If I'm reloading to chase, that's not entertainment anymore and the night's over. Sounds rigid but it keeps it in its lane.
